In contrast humans have to stand within a few feet of each other to detect human pheromones. Male moth receptor cells - like those that have been recently discovered in humans for detecting human pheromones - are extremely responsive. It will take only 200 pheromone molecules for the receptor to produce a strong enough response to invoke a behavioral change. It requires thousands of molecules of human pheromones to register behavioral changes in humans.

Ants

They are the masters of pheromones in the animal kingdom. They use pheromones as their prime communication tool, unlike in the human world where human pheromones are a secondary form of communication. Ants also use pheromones in novel ways, such as using them to find the shortest route from nest to food source. As ants wander away from their nest in search of food they continually drop a particular pheromone scent behind them so others can follow. Initially, the ants take random paths away from the nest, all eventually returning to the nest with food. They then follow their scent back out to re-find the food source.
